About Us
Birribee was established in Western Sydney in 2020, then known as NSWALC Housing Ltd. Created with a clear purpose: to strengthen Aboriginal housing outcomes through community-led, culturally grounded services across NSW.
Beginning just four properties under management it has changed names to Birribee Housing, grown to support over 500 households, delivering additional services such as a homelessness program, assisting communities through two estate renewal projects and has progressed to become a Tier 1 housing provider.
As one of the largest growing Aboriginal community housing providers in Australia but with a specific focus in NSW it is supporting communities across Sydney, Wagga Wagga, Orange, Bathurst, Forster, Moree and exploring additional opportunities beyond this.
Courage, Integrity, Pride, Respect, Service
Growing with community
Our growth has been shaped by partnerships, trust and listening to community needs.
In our first year of operation, Birribee joined a successful consortium to support renewal planning for the Tolland Estate in Wagga Wagga. Soon after, we delivered large-scale repair programs on Aboriginal Land Council properties in regional New South Wales, helping to improve the safety and condition of homes for Aboriginal families.
Birribee was also the first Aboriginal Community Housing Provider approved to operate as a Housing Pathways provider, giving us direct access to the NSW social housing intake system. This milestone strengthened our ability to support Aboriginal people to access housing through culturally safe pathways.
As more properties were transferred to our care through the Aboriginal Housing Office’s Management Transfer Program, Birribee’s role expanded from focusing on the tenancy to also include the wellbeing of the community.
Looking ahead
Birribee continues to grow — working alongside community, government and industry partners to improve housing outcomes for Aboriginal people.
As we look ahead, our focus remains the same as when we started: strong governance, strong partnerships, and housing that supports self-determination and wellbeing.

Job Vacancies
Birribee currently has close to 30 staff members, of which 80% are Aboriginal. We have a focus on Aboriginal employment outcomes and will balance this with ensuring we are able to meet the needs of clients today. As employment opportunities become available we will advertise these through employment networks, our socials and also place job ads on this site.
